FairCharge Urges Cut In VAT - Daily Mail

Updated: Aug 13

Jeremy Hunt is urged to remove the 'pavement tax' on electric car owners using public charging points. Currently, drivers pay 20% VAT on electricity at public chargers, while the rate at home charging is only 5%. This disparity unfairly impacts those without driveways or garages, particularly lower-income families in terraced housing and flats. Over 40 MPs and peers have written to the Chancellor ahead of the Budget, requesting a reduction in VAT on electricity from public chargers to 5%.
