Demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is accelerating, driven by soaring fuel prices and tougher clean air regulations. In the UK, 127,492 new EVs were registered in the first seven months of 2022—a jump of 50% compared with the same period the year before.
But while sales surge ahead, the rollout of public charging infrastructure has lagged behind. The result: long queues and congestion at popular charging stations, especially when multiple EVs turn up at once.
