FairCharge: Urgent Action Needed to Strengthen UK’s Critical Mineral Supply Chain

Writer: FairChargeFairCharge

ttee has published the government's response to its report, "A Rock and a Hard Place: Building Critical Mineral Resilience."

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) acknowledges China's dominance in critical mineral supply chains but disagrees with claims that previous UK governments failed to recognize the issue or assess supply chain risks before creating the Critical Minerals Strategy.

The FCDO agrees that critical minerals are vital to national security and is developing a ‘UK Proposition’ to outline strengths and ambitions to international partners.

Committee Chair Alicia Kearns MP stresses that urgent action is needed beyond strategic plans to reduce reliance on China and strengthen the UK's economic resilience.
