Electric vehicle (EV) sales in the UK reached a new record, making up over 25% of new car sales in February 2025, up from 18% the previous year. Big brands like Volkswagen, Peugeot, Mini, and Renault saw huge increases in EV sales, with Mini registrations soaring from just 82 to over 1,300.
Meanwhile, petrol and diesel car sales continue to drop, with petrol sales down 34.5% and diesel down 13.2% year-on-year. The UK's Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) mandate is pushing for even more growth, with strong investments in EV technology and charging infrastructure.
